Dogs bark I laugh
My husband and I have friends (a married couple) whom just assumed that they could stay with us for 20 days when they come up north for his leave. He has a TON of family up here but she doesn’t like them. My hubby and I live in a SMALL 730 sq foot 2 bdrm home. They have stayed the weekend with us in the past and that was ok, but they are slobs!!!! How do we tell them no without losing them as friends. I am really not to worried about him, he’s nice and understanding, but her, she did this to another mutual friend and they no longer speak. oh yeah, they want to bring their small dachshund and I have an english bulldog, and their dog pees everywhere, and i just got new carpeting. My hubby and him are best friends by the way, but she is horrible. Oh yeah, they claim to have no money, she even called his grandma to send them $1500.00 so they could come up before he leaves for Iraq, yet they just spent $1100.00 on a corgi/beagle mix puppy because she refused to come up without a new puppy even though their dachshund is not potty trained and it is a year old!!! What do I say???
btw, They just recieved his reinlistment bonus and blew it on two brand new four wheelers, a new truck which they only put 10k down on (the truck retails at 50k) a new big screen lcd tv and much more…
What is the main motivation when a dog bites? Normally dogs do not bite, not by nature. There are some circumstances that can be avoided and watched for to prevent a dog bite from ever happening. Dogs are known as Mans best friend and I will always believe that to be true if they are loved and trained properly.
There are a lot of dog bites every year, more than 4.7 million. There is actually a National Dog Bite Prevention Week every year to help educate the public on dog bites and how to protect you. Half of that number are children age 12 and under. Others are the elderly and mail carriers.
When you purchase a dog for your family, consider the breed. There are some breeds that are more prone to bite if provoked, and some just don’t do well with children. If your child shows some hesitation about getting a dog, then wait until he is ready. Dogs need a lot attention, they want love and they want to feel secure in their environment. If a child is insecure, the dog will sense it and there will be more stress for both, the child and dog.
When playing with your dog, don’t play games that are aggressive, teach your dog how to play gently. Teach your dog to be submissive, and spay or neuter your dog (this at times will reduce aggressive behavior).
When your dog is out, keep him in a fenced yard or on a leash. Never let your dog run loose, no matter how safe you think he may be. Keep your dog vaccinated against rabies. Train your dog the basic commands like sit, stay, heel, come, and down.
The most common bites are to children. There are some things you can teach your child about safety around dogs. I will list a few here:
1. Do not approach a dog you don’t know
2. If you are near a dog and afraid, don’t run and scream
3. Be still if a dog approaches you, don’t move, be a statue
4. If a dog comes at you, roll into a ball and be very still
5. Do not wake a dog that is sleeping, eating or has puppies (it may be tempting to go see the puppies, the mama dog is very protective)
6. Allow a dog to sniff you before you try to pet it, hold your hand out, palm up like you are handing the dog something.
7. Do not look a dog right into their eyes if they don’t know you
8. If bitten, tell a grownup right away
Education is the key before the dog bites. Let’s prevent it before it ever happens. Go over these tips with your child on a regular basis. They may forget and it helps just as a reminder. Then if the time ever does come, they won’t even have to think about it, they will just react the way they were taught.

Dog barking can be a major problem, especially if it’s YOUR dog! If there is anything neighbors hate, it’s loud noise coming from your house or garden – not everything is music to one’s ears. And dogs barking seemingly without good reason is exceptionally annoying.
Dog barking can be controlled through a number of ways, but as with all forms of dog training, positive reinforcement helps more than hitting your dog or just shouting at him to quiet down. You can try to restrain your dog from barking by using a muzzle, but this won’t stop him from whining and in the end, you haven’t resolved the noise problem. Sometimes dogs bark for no visible reason, but it’s only because they’re lonely or restless.
One of the lesser known ways of stopping a dog from barking is by countering noise with noise. How to do this? Put a few coins or pebbles inside a small empty can, and whenever your dog starts barking, take the can in hand and shake it. The noise will startle the dog and make him stop barking. He might start up again in a bit, but just shake the can again; sooner or later your dog will understand what the noise means, and be conditioned to respect it.
If you’re keeping a puppy and the poor little thing can’t stop barking, take him aside and hold his jaws shut. While you’re holding the jaws closed, say “No!” firmly. Release the muzzle once the puppy has calmed down… but if he starts barking again, repeat what you did. Sooner or later he’ll get the hint, or will at least be too exhausted to continue barking, then go back to sleep. After a few days of this, your puppy will be sure to understand what “No!” means when he barks.
Special collars are another way to train your pets into behaving – but try to avoid shock collars, except in very extreme cases. Tone or vibration collars won’t harm your dog, but ought to work as well. Vibration collars may be smarter, especially if you’re keeping more than one dog, since it’s quieter. Moreover, tone collars may emit sounds similar to cell phones or other digital devices, and they might end up confusing your dog more than helping him.

My boyfriend won’t let my little tiny 4 lb pom come to his apartment because he peed on his sheets last night.
I have a washer and dryer and we are going to wash it but he still says hes not allowed anymore.
It isn’t like it stained and he just made a mistake. He does poop in his closet sometimes but I just have to try to keep the door closed and make sure there is always a fresh puppy “pee pad”.
He is potty trained just once in a while he makes mistakes.

We used our dogs name to get his attention. To have good control of our dog we realized we must be able to get a good orientation response from the animal. [ Build attention by using your pet’s name when calling it for food, walks, and play.] we did this randomly 10 times a day. Most important thing we learned was to never punish our dogs for coming to you or by calling him.

We Always enforced commands that we gave, and didn’t constantly repeat commands. If we were not serious about enforcing a command, we didn’t give it.

We Used timing as a form of communication with our dogs. Timing is one of the key elements of canine education. It does not matter what teaching method we were using, we worked at developing the proper timing for each technique.

We didn’t punish desirable behavior. Such as having your puppy eliminate outside and then immediately leaving the puppy. If the puppy wants to be with you, you will have just punished the pup for doing the right behavior.
